On Sunday Night, Freddie, Jette, Fear and I all headed out to Skagen, where as I have previously mentioned, they own a "summer" house there. It is truly beautiful there and it literally feels like you are standing at the top of the world.
On Monday, Jette took me to a church(On our bikes of course), that because of the big sand drift they had there in Skagen the whole body of the building had been covered in sand, so all that is left is the tower, so we climber the tower and you could see the skyline of Skagen.
Tuesday, Freddie took me to the Skagen museum. It was really neat. In the early 1900s the town was mostly lived in by artists and writers. It was a trend I think to come live here and it "inspired" a lot of beautiful art. It was neat to be in the very place where people painted such lovely things and to be able to learn a little about their lives as well.
One of my favorites, painted by Michael Ancher.
Wednesday, Jette took me to Michael and Anne Ancher's (famous painters) home, it was lovely and neat to see how they used to live.
Thursday, I got up early and walked down to the beach to see the sunrise, where I also got a lovely view of old nude women...It was an experience. Also that day I picked up my souveniers, including my "I love Skagen" t-shirt that I paid way too much for.
Thursday evening we went back to Aalborg, then Friday morning we headed off to Odense. Freddie and Jette were nice enough to take me down there.
On our way there we stopped at Freddie's neices home, Gitte. She fed us an amazing meal and we got to chat. It was very nice to meet them and get to know them a little. I am so glad that Freddie arranged for us to go.
We got to Odense about 4 in the afternoon, where Inge had prepared us some hot chocolate and wonderful dessert. It was very hard for me to say good bye to Freddie and Jette after living with them for 2 weeks and getting to know them. I loved being with them so much and am so grateful that they let me come.
Next...Odense
